PHYSICIAN-PRESCRIBED LASH GROWTH.
Latisse® Lash Growth Serum
If your lashes have thinned, shortened, or never felt like quite enough — there's a clinical reason for that, and there's a treatment. Latisse® is the first and only FDA-approved prescription eyelash growth treatment, clinically shown to produce lashes that are longer, fuller, and darker. At MedLuxe Wellness, it may be part of your broader health and wellness treatment plan.
At MedLuxe Wellness in Phoenix, Maryland, Latisse® is prescribed to qualifying patients following evaluation by Cara Bowman, our nurse injector with more than 14 years of experience in medical aesthetics, with physician oversight provided by Dr. Joe Krecz at every step.
What is Latisse® Eyelash Serum?
Latisse® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution, 0.03%) is a prescription eyelash growth serum FDA-approved in 2008 to treat eyelash hypotrichosis, the clinical term for inadequate or sparse eyelashes. It's the first and only FDA-approved prescription medication for eyelash growth.
Its active ingredient, bimatoprost, was originally developed as eyedrops to treat glaucoma. Ophthalmologists noticed that patients using it consistently developed longer, fuller, darker lashes. That observation became a treatment.
Latisse works by extending the anagen phase — the active growth period — of the eyelash hair cycle. Lash follicles are kept in an active growing state longer, producing lashes that are measurably longer, fuller, and darker with consistent nightly use. Applied once each evening to the upper lash line using a sterile, single-use applicator.

Why Choose Latisse® for Eyelash Growth?
For patients who've spent money on over-the-counter serums that didn't deliver, or who want a treatment with actual clinical evidence behind it, Latisse offers something the drugstore aisle doesn't: a physician-prescribed treatment with measurably proven results.
Latisse may be the right fit for you if you want to:
Grow lashes that are clinically, measurably longer — not just conditioned
Address lash thinning caused by aging, hormonal changes, or medical treatment
Skip the extensions and simplify your routine with a once-nightly prescription
Work with a provider who evaluates your candidacy, not just fills a prescription
Have a real treatment option before considering other cosmetic approaches
What is Latisse® Lash Serum For?
Latisse is an FDA-approved lash serum to treat eyelash hypotrichosis — the clinical term for inadequate or sparse eyelashes. Because it's a prescription medication, candidacy requires a medical evaluation. If you're unsure whether what you're experiencing qualifies, that's exactly what a consultation with Cara is for.
Whatever the underlying cause, the goal is the same: lashes that look fuller, healthier, and more like the ones you remember.
-
Lashes That Have Thinned With Age
The most common reason patients come to us about their lashes is aging. Lash cycles shorten, follicles become less active, and the lashes that grow back are finer and sparser than they used to be. It's gradual enough that many patients don't notice until a photo shows them. Latisse works by extending the active growth phase — temporarily restoring the density and length the follicle is still capable of producing. At MedLuxe, we confirm the cause before prescribing, so the treatment fits the actual problem.
-
Lash Thinning From Hormonal Changes or Medical Treatment
Hormonal shifts — including perimenopause and menopause — can affect lash density the same way they affect hair elsewhere. Certain medications, including some chemotherapy agents, can also cause temporary lash loss. If your lashes have changed in the context of a broader health shift, that's worth noting at your consultation. It informs the plan.
-
Sparse Lashes That Never Felt Like Enough
Not every case is dramatic thinning. Some patients simply have lashes that have always been shorter or lighter than they'd like — and have spent years trying serums, extensions, and growth-boosting mascaras with limited results. Latisse is FDA-approved for exactly this: lashes that are inadequate, regardless of whether they've always been that way or changed over time. A consultation confirms whether it's the right fit.

Not sure if Latisse is right for you?
Let’s talk.
Latisse® Eyelash Growth Treatment at MedLuxe
At MedLuxe, lash thinning is assessed the way it should: by Cara Bowman, our nurse injector with more than a decade of medical aesthetics experience, with physician oversight from Dr. Joe at every step. If Latisse is right for you, you'll know why. If it isn't, you'll know what your other options are.
Physician-Guided Medical Care
When Latisse is prescribed through a physician-supervised practice, you get more than a serum. You get a real evaluation — one that makes sure your treatment matches your situation, conducted by Cara and backed by Dr’ Joe’s oversight. That evaluation is included in your consultation at MedLuxe.
Individualized Treatment Plans
If Latisse is the right answer for you, we'll tell you what to realistically expect and when. If something else would give you a better result, we'll tell you that instead. The goal is to give you a plan that works, so you can look and feel more like yourself again.
Integrated Aesthetic & Wellness Care
Latisse often comes up alongside other care at MedLuxe — as part of a broader aesthetic plan, alongside Upneeq for patients managing both lash and eyelid appearance, or as part of a hormone replacement conversation where hormonal shifts are affecting how you look and feel
How to Get Latisse® at MedLuxe Wellness
1. Consultation & Evaluation
Cara reviews your lash presentation, medical history, and current medications to confirm Latisse is appropriate — and to rule out any contraindications or underlying cause that would change the approach. Dr. Joe provides physician oversight throughout.
2. Prescription & Instructions
If you're a good candidate, we write the prescription and walk you through exactly how to use it — application technique, contact lens timing, what to do if you're using other eye medications, and what to watch for.
3. Treatment — At Home, Once Nightly
Each evening, you apply one drop to the upper eyelashes, at the base of the lashes, using the sterile applicator provided. The lower lashes are not treated directly. The process takes under a minute. Consistency is what drives results.
4. Results Over Time
Individual results vary. Statistically significant improvements typically begin around 8 weeks of nightly use, with maximum results at 16 weeks. Lashes become measurably longer, thicker, and darker with consistent use.
Latisse® FAQ’s
Questions patients had before trying Latisse:
-
Latisse eyelash growth serum extends the anagen phase of the eyelash hair cycle — the period when lashes are actively growing. By prolonging this phase, lash follicles produce hairs that are longer, thicker, and darker than the natural lashes would otherwise be.
-
Statistically significant improvements typically begin around 8 weeks of consistent nightly use, with maximum results at 16 weeks. Lashes return gradually to their baseline appearance if treatment is stopped. Skipping applications slows progress. Individual results vary.
-
Latisse is FDA-approved for eyelashes only. Off-label use on eyebrows is common in medical aesthetics and supported by multiple clinical studies showing meaningful improvements in brow fullness and density — but it requires physician evaluation and isn't appropriate for everyone. At MedLuxe, we assess whether it makes sense for your situation before prescribing.
-
In controlled clinical trials, the most common reactions — eye redness and itching — each occurred in less than 4% of subjects. Additional potential side effects include dry eye, irritation, and darkening of the eyelid skin, which is typically reversible after stopping treatment. In rare cases, darkening of the iris can occur and may be permanent. Physician evaluation identifies patients at elevated risk before prescribing.
-
Over-the-counter lash serums are unregulated cosmetics. None contain bimatoprost — the only molecule FDA-approved for eyelash growth. Latisse has clinical trial data showing measurable, reproducible results. If you've tried over-the-counter serums without results, the difference is the active ingredient and the prescription that comes with it.
-
Yes — Latisse is a prescription medication. It can't be purchased over the counter, and it shouldn't be. The prescription process is what catches contraindications and sets realistic expectations. At MedLuxe, that process starts with a provider evaluation at our clinic just off Jarrettsville Pike.

We currently charge $180 for Latisse. Pricing is discussed openly at your consultation — no surprises, no pressure. CareCredit and Cherry financing are available for patients who prefer monthly payment options.
